Welcome!

Hello,

Welcome    to    my    website    fabian-burkhardt.de!    I    am    glad    that    you    have    found    your    way    here    and    are interested in one of the topics I want to share with you and many others. This   website   was   created   to   show   you   my   passion   for   taekwondo,   which   I   have   been   practicing   for   over   10 years   now.   During   this   time   I   have   learned   a   lot   and   I   have   reached   a   point   in   my   Taekwondo   career   where it is time to pass on my knowledge to others. At   this   point   I   would   also   like   to   introduce   myself   briefly,   so   that   you   have   an   impression   of   who   I   am   and what    I    do.    My    name    is    Fabian    Burkhardt,    I    am    23    years    old    and    have    been    doing    Taekwondo    since September   2007.   In   2011   I   took   my   first   Dan   exam   and   since   July   2015   I   am   the   holder   of   the   3rd   Dan.   I started   with   Taekwondo   at   TSV   Grunbach   e.V.   and   have   remained   true   to   it   until   today.   Since   then   I   have also   trained   in   various   other   clubs.   These   include   MTV   Aalen   1846   e.V.,   as   well   as   a   representation   at   DJK Aalen   e.V..   In   the   winter   term   of   2015   I   founded   a   Taekwondo   course   as   part   of   the   University   Sport   at   Aalen University,   which   still   exists   today   and   is   now   being   continued   by   my   former   co-trainers.   In   my   practical term   in   the   winter   term   2016/17,   which   I   spent   in   Ljubljana,   I   was   also   Poomsae   trainer   at   Taekwondo   Team Gaiana.   Currently   I   am   training   with   the   Taekwondo   Club   at   the   University   of   Birmingham   due   to   my   current postgraduate degree course at the said University. On    this    page    I    try    to    tell    you    everything    you    need    to    know    about    Taekwondo,    beginning    with    the presentation    of    this    wonderful    sport    up    to    the    preparation    for    Kup    or    Dan    exams.    Please    note    that Taekwondo   is   practiced   in   different   styles.   There   are   two   major   world   associations,   the   International   World Taekwondo    Federation    (ITF)    and    World    Taekwondo    (WT).    I    practice    Taekwondo    at    World    Taekwondo (formerly   World   Taekwondo   Federation).   More   than   30   million   athletes   belong   to   this   association,   which according   to   some   estimates   corresponds   to   about   70-80%   of   all   Taekwondo   athletes   worldwide.   World Taekwondo   is   also   the   only   association   recognised   as   Olympic   by   the   International   Olympic   Committee (IOC).   Globally,   World   Taekwondo   is   divided   into   continental,   national   and   regional   associations.   World Taekwondo   Europe   (WTE)   is   the   European   umbrella   organisation   represented   in   Germany   by   the   German Taekwondo   Union   (DTU)   .   Since   Germany   has   over   60,000   active   Taekwondo   athletes,   the   DTU   is   divided into   regional   associations.   One   example   would   be   the   Taekwondo   Union   Baden-Württemberg   (TUBW),   of which   I   am   a   member.   These   association   structure   enable   the   same   techniques   and   values   of   this   sport   to be   thaught   worldwide   and   belt   tests   to   be   taken   according   to   the   same   standard   everywhere,   thus   ensuring that belt grades achieved are valid worldwide. Here   you   can   choose   between   different   topics.   I   have   divided   them   into   Taekwondo   in   general,   Taekwondo University Sports and Exams & Downloads for a better overview:

Taekwondo in general

Here you can find general information about Taekwondo, like the history, the components of Taekwondo, tutorials and much more!

University Sport Aalen

Sinco October 2015 there is also Taekwondo at the University of Aalen. Latest news, information and dates can be found here!

Exams & Downloads

Typical for martial arts are our graduation systems. The current rank is shown by the belt colour we wear. Unfortunately the examination system is not always easy to understand. Here I would therefore like to give you the opportunity to prepare yourself better for your exams. Additionally I would like to present some information about the coaching license. ______________________________________________________

World Taekwondo consists of many sub-organisations. Only the Kukkiwon, the Ministry of Sport of South Korea, is superior to the WT, and issues the certificate for masters (dan bearers) internationally and “controls and directs” the events in Taekwondo. I have linked some of these associations here, so that you can inform yourself on their website if you are interested.
